Melissa Dyckman is the founder and interior designer of Melissa Dyckman Interiors, a West Maui-based interior design studio serving clients across Maui through in-home, on-site and virtual consultations. Known for her mindful, process-driven approach, she creates elevated, livable interiors that prioritize comfort, durability and long-term function in Hawaii’s unique island climate.

Dyckman brings nearly two decades of Hawaii living experience to her work, guiding practical decisions around materials, sourcing and performance. Her projects span new builds, renovations and furnishing and styling engagements, with services that range from full-service interior design to concierge design sessions. She is recognized for clear communication, detailed planning and close collaboration with architects, builders and trades, informed in part by years of firsthand exposure to the construction field.

Her design philosophy centers on layered, personal spaces that feel complete and lived-in rather than staged. Drawing inspiration from the ocean, natural textures and architecture, she develops concepts tailored to each client’s lifestyle, with an emphasis on warm lighting, cohesive color stories and materials that hold up to humidity, salt air and daily use. She prioritizes local sourcing whenever possible and regularly partners with Maui-based vendors, artists and makers.

Before launching her design studio during the pandemic in 2021, Dyckman spent more than a decade as a hairstylist and owner of a high-volume wedding hair and makeup company named Love and Beauty Maui, where she developed a strong foundation in color theory, client service and creative direction. She later transitioned fully into interiors after furnishing projects for Maui families led to ongoing referrals and long-term client relationships.

Born in Arizona, Dyckman studied hospitality management at the University of Central Florida and moved to Maui in 2007. She was personally affected by the 2023 Lahaina wildfire, an experience that further shaped her commitment to thoughtful, resilient home design. Outside of her studio work, she enjoys early morning workouts, the beach, family life and hands-on renovation projects, including the ongoing renovation of her own home.
